Nigerian Students Seek Government Action to Tackle Housing Deficit

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has urged the Federal Government to support innovative solutions to address Nigeria’s housing deficit and ensure affordable housing for all. NAPS expressed concern over the high cost of accommodation and housing occupancy in the country. In collaboration with Domak Group International, NAPS launched the 'Domak Youths and Students Land and Housing Investment Scheme' to tackle these issues. NAPS President Opeyemi Ridwan highlighted the challenges faced by Nigerian students and youths in securing affordable housing, noting that previous generations benefited from favorable economic conditions and government programs that are not available today, resulting in lower home and land ownership rates.

Abuja’s Housing Deficit Reduces as FHA Completes 1,000 Units

The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has completed over 1,000 housing units in Abuja, including 375 in Bwari, and others in Apo and Guzape, to address the region's housing needs. The units will be commissioned by the end of the year, as announced by FHA MD CEO Oyetunde Ojo during a three-day retreat in Kaduna. The retreat, opened by Kaduna's Deputy Governor, focused on enhancing the FHA's capacity to provide improved housing solutions aligned with President Tinubu's vision. FHA leaders emphasized using emerging technologies, strategic partnerships, and collaborative efforts to deliver safe, affordable housing for all Nigerians.

Lagos Government Issues 7-Day Ultimatum to 200 Okun Ajah Property Owners

Over 200 property owners and occupiers in the Òkun Ajah Waterfront scheme, Eti Osa LGA, have been served a contravention notice by the Lagos State government for illegally encroaching on government land. The notice, issued by Hon Yacoob Ekundayo Alebiosu, Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, requires them to either present proper documentation or remove their buildings within seven days. Alebiosu emphasized that the government will not allow public land to be converted into private investments and urged property owners to comply voluntarily. The government has previously issued multiple warnings and is now prepared to enforce the law, with further actions planned in coordination with the Ministry of Physical Planning.
