Dangiwa Launches 22-Member Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, has officially inaugurated a 22-member Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria, aimed at promoting excellence in estate surveying and valuation. The inauguration ceremony took place in Abuja on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, according to a statement released by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Salisu Badamasi Haiba.

During his address, the minister emphasized the board's responsibility to uphold the highest standards of estate surveying and valuation, maintain the integrity of the profession, encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing, and advance the interests of both members and the public.

Dangiwa also underscored the critical role of estate surveyors and valuers in ensuring the successful delivery of affordable housing across Nigeria. He noted, “Their professional expertise is essential for accurate land and property valuations that reflect fair market values, which are vital for cost-effective housing solutions.”

Dr. Marcus Ogunbiyi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, highlighted that the board's inauguration is a significant step toward ensuring the highest standards of practice and ethics within the profession. ESVARBON Chairman, Dosu Fatokun, expressed the board's commitment to contributing to economic growth by offering valuable advice to the government.

The newly established ESVARBON board comprises five appointees from five states, four representatives from various institutions, three representing the minister, and two from the Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers. A nomination from Oyo State is still pending. The ministry aims to utilize this board to transform the housing sector in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
