FCT Approves N33 Billion for Infrastructure Projects in Abuja, Including Key Transportation and Housing Upgrades
The Federal Capital Executive Committee has approved contracts totaling N33.24 billion for various projects planned for completion over the next year in Abuja.
This decision came during the committee’s ninth meeting, presided over by FCT Minister Mr. Nyesom Wike. Key projects in the approved contracts include enhancements to transportation access, securing fuel supply for essential facilities, and significant improvements in airport infrastructure and housing for educational staff.
The Chief of Staff to the Minister, Mr. Chidi Amadi, highlighted the administration's dedication to providing essential services to residents of the FCT. “These projects reflect our commitment to addressing the crucial infrastructure needs of the FCT's population,” Amadi stated while briefing the press after the meeting.
Dr. Chinedum Elechi, the Mandate Secretary of the Transportation Secretariat, revealed that N7.22 billion has been allocated for constructing access roads to the Kugbo and Mabushi Bus and Taxi Terminals.
Elechi noted that while these terminals, which were initially contracted in May, are making significant progress, additional access roads have been deemed necessary to ensure smooth connectivity with major roads.
The road construction project, awarded to Planet Projects Ltd., is expected to be completed within 12 weeks.
