Federal Housing Ministry Receives ₦50 Billion budget increase to Boost Nigeria’s Housing Sector

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has received an extra N50 billion in its 2025 budget, following an intervention by the National Assembly.

This budgetary adjustment reverses an earlier cut proposed by the Budget Office and is intended to strengthen the housing sector, generate employment, and settle outstanding financial obligations.

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, shared this development during a stakeholders’ retreat in Lagos on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. The announcement, published on the ministry’s website, highlighted the significance of the additional funding in advancing key projects and fostering economic growth.

"In a major step toward revitalizing the housing sector, Arc. Dangiwa revealed that the National Assembly secured an additional N50 billion for the ministry’s 2025 budget. This follows an initial reduction put forward by the Budget Office," the statement read.

He further noted that the increase in funding would enable the ministry to create more jobs, clear outstanding financial obligations, and contribute positively to the economy.

According to Arc. Dangiwa, this move aligns with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, reinforcing the government’s commitment to addressing challenges in the housing sector.

He also acknowledged the long-standing neglect of the sector and assured stakeholders that he remains dedicated to working collaboratively with the National Assembly and other key institutions to ensure the effective execution of the ministry’s initiatives.
