FHA Halts Construction in Abuja Estates, Sets Deadline for Approval Compliance

The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has temporarily halted all construction work in its estates located in Lugbe, Karu, and Kubwa within the Federal Capital Territory. Developers operating in these areas have been given a three-month deadline to regularize their building approvals.

In an official statement released on Sunday, the FHA directed all developers in these estates to visit its headquarters at No. 26 Julius Nyerere Crescent, Asokoro, Abuja, starting from February 3, 2025.

According to the FHA, developers must provide key documents, including allocation letters, approved building plans, payment receipts, and consent letters for any property transfers.

The decision to suspend construction is part of the agency’s efforts to enforce compliance with its regulations. Developers are required to submit their documents for proper verification and approval.

Additionally, the FHA has introduced a special amnesty program for owners of commercial properties that lack the necessary approvals. This initiative allows developers until May 3, 2025, to correct their documentation and obtain the required permits.

“The amnesty period presents an opportunity for commercial property owners who have not yet secured approvals to complete the process within the stipulated three-month period,” the statement noted.
