FMBN Commits to Affordable Housing in partnership with Keffi Local Government Council

The Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Shehu Usman Osidi, has expressed the Bank's commitment to collaborating with the Keffi Local Government Council in Nasarawa State to advance affordable housing solutions. During a courtesy visit by a delegation from Keffi Local Government, led by its Chairman, Hon. Shehu Mohammed Baba, on October 3, 2024, Osidi outlined the Bank's dedication to supporting sustainable housing for Nigerian workers.

Osidi took the opportunity to explain the core mission of FMBN, which is to provide affordable mortgage solutions that enable homeownership, particularly for low- and middle-income earners. He emphasized that the Bank offers a range of products tailored to meet these needs, including the NHF Mortgage Loan, Individual Construction Loan, and Home Renovation Loan— the latter being particularly popular among Keffi LGC employees. He also mentioned the Rent-to-Own scheme, which allows beneficiaries to move into homes without needing to make an upfront investment.

Reflecting on his eight-month tenure as MD/CE of the Bank, Osidi highlighted the leadership's focus on key reforms that have started yielding positive results. He expressed confidence that the Bank is on the right path and pledged to work with Keffi LGC to create housing initiatives that would benefit local residents and contribute to the socio-economic growth of Nasarawa State, in line with efforts being made across the country.

Osidi also commended the innovative leadership of Hon. Baba, noting that his efforts have brought tangible improvements to Keffi’s local governance, a notable shift from previous administrations. He assured the Council of FMBN’s readiness to partner closely with them to achieve their shared housing goals.

In his response, Hon. Baba thanked the Bank for the warm reception and acknowledged FMBN's essential role in addressing Nigeria’s housing needs. He emphasized that as policymakers, they depend on the expertise of institutions like FMBN to help fulfill their obligations to the public. Baba also recognized the Bank’s significant contributions to the real estate and housing sectors, and praised Osidi for his leadership and dedication to the development of Keffi LGC. He encouraged the MD/CE to continue his support for the community.
