Tinubu Approves N147.9 Billion for Oyo-Ogbomoso Road Completion

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sanctioned the allocation of N147.9 billion for the completion of the dualisation of the Oyo-Ogbomoso Road in Oyo State.

This announcement was made on Monday by one of the president’s spokespersons, Sunday Dare, through a statement on his X (formerly Twitter) account. The approval was granted during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held the same day.

According to Dare, the funding will enable JRB Construction Company Limited to finalize the road project, easing the challenges faced by commuters and transporters.

“President Tinubu has approved the completion of the Oyo–Ogbomoso Road dualisation project, with a total budget of N147,887,810,833.87. The contract has been awarded to Messrs JRB Construction Co. Ltd., ensuring the long-awaited completion of this critical road,” he stated.

Dare further emphasized that the president is aware of the strategic importance of the road, particularly the Ibadan–Ilorin section, which remains incomplete. He highlighted that Tinubu is committed to reducing the difficulties encountered by haulage vehicles transporting goods and agricultural produce from the northern region to Lagos, as well as addressing the inconvenience faced by students and other road users.

It is worth noting that on February 20, 2025, Nigeria’s Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, terminated the original 98-kilometer Oyo–Ogbomoso Road contract, which had been previously awarded to Reynolds Construction Company (RCC).
